A Golf Pro looking for someone to play a "round" with.
In 1979 I moved to Florida and shortly after turned golf professional. In the eighties I was on and off as a pro, switching back and forth from golf to working with my dad. In 1986 I officially entered the PGA program. In May of 88 I signed a sponsorship agreement to tour Europe on the European PGA Tour. However, god works in mysterious ways. In June, the very next month after signing my life long dream (a sponsorship agreement) while I was an entry level golf professional at the Breakers Golf Resort in Palm Beach. I also worked part time as a delivery driver for Dominos Pizza. When in a split second my entire life changed, I broke my neck! I simply slipped on a wet tile floor of all things, shattering my cervical vertebrae, right along with my dreams. My first few days in the ICU I suffered complete paralysis, retaining only my senses. Miraculously, after extensive surgery, rehabilitation and recovery spanning over three years, I was able to go from a paralyzed body to restructuring (by compromise) my golf swing and shooting a course record 62 at Indian Creek Golf Course in Jupiter, Florida. Although it was a great accomplishment, it never healed my injured confidence and physical limitations to the point of considering re-entering the PGA program. But, I was back in the saddle (sort of). I volunteered part time at local golf courses, mainly assisting with junior clinics. When a young phenom named Alex Berger crossed my path. He always made me laugh, demonstrating wisdom and character. I remember thinking this kid can't be real. This child is far too precious. As I got to know him over the summer, I noticed a metamorphic change in his ability. Like a sponge, he listened to instruction and showed true promise. We decided it was time for him to play on a golf course, and once again, I knew this kid was special. He heartened me to offer greater attention and instruction, soon becoming close friends.
